Over 3 decades of Web Site experience is what WPO Pros brings to the table. We pride ourselves on being able to effectively communicate with teams both the importance of Web Performance Optimization as well as the tools, tips, tricks, and best practices needed to achieve excellent results.
Ron Feathers began his career in 1997 with WebFeathers, Inc. building web sites for small businesses. Quickly, he found himself with a passion for web sites, and migrated to the Bay Area to work for a start-up in Menlo Park. As happens all too often, the start up ran out of money and Ron found his way to VeriSign. It was there that he met Marc Kocher.
Marc's roots in the Silicon Valley run deep. He launched his career at San Jose State University, and worked for Netscape in the early years. Marc also has a few start-ups under his belt, and met up with Ron at VeriSign in 2003. They spent a few years at VeriSign, where the two worked on many projects including completey rebuilding the framework for VeriSign's fleet of international corporate web sites, several marketing web sites and the entire Corporate Intranet. Then, they went to Yahoo!.
Yahoo! gave these two developers visibility into the real-world requirements for optimizing code on one of the most-visited wed sites in the world. In addition to their main focus, the Yahoo! Search Results page, they worked many projects focusing on the finer points of front-end technologies like PHP/HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
In 2008, Marc defected from Yahoo! to manage a SearchRev in Palo Alto, CA - again stream-lining and optimizing the front end of both a corporate web site as well as a very intricate web-based management tool for Search Engine Optimization and Ad Management.
Ron left Yahoo! in 2009 to join start up Frengo, which turned into AdMob (coincedentally also dealing with with ad placement) and was the sole front-end developer handling very rapid roll-outs of highly-targeted web sites and an ad management admin panel of his own.
In 2010 the two reunited when Marc Kocher, now a Senior Manager of Web Development at PayPal once again brought the talents of Ron Feathers onto his team. The two now work with other very talented developers rebuilding the platform for PayPal's web front end.
...and you can bet that Performance Optimization is part of the daily focus.
